Discover Trevone Bay

Just 100 metres from the front door, the sea is practically on your doorstep. Nestled on the North Cornwall coast near Padstow, Trevone Bay is, in our eyes, one of the most beautiful and welcoming seaside villages in Cornwall — the perfect setting for a family holiday cottage by the beach.

Explore two incredible beaches:

  • The Rocky Beach, a favourite for rockpooling, shell hunting, and spotting marine life, with a natural sea-water swimming pool that appears at certain tides.
  • The Sandy Beach, a Blue Flag beach with soft golden sand — perfect for swimming, surfing, sunbathing, and sandcastle-building

Within a short walk, you’ll find the charming Trevone Farm Shop, offering local Cornish treats, and the Beach Café, serving hot pizzas, coffee, and ice cream.

For walkers, Trevone Bay is a gateway to some of the best coastal walks in Cornwall. Stroll along the South West Coast Path, past the dramatic blowhole carved into the cliffs above the sandy beach, and continue on a breathtaking trail all the way to Padstow — with stunning sea views the entire way.

1. Trevone Bay to Padstow – A Coastal Classic

One of the most popular coastal walks near Trevone, this scenic route takes you from Trevone Bay all the way to Padstow.

Start your walk at Trevone’s sandy beach, then follow the South West Coast Path northwards. The route winds along dramatic cliffs and wildflower meadows, offering breathtaking sea views at every turn.

You’ll pass the famous Round Hole (a natural sea cavern) and the striking Stepper Point, before arriving in the charming harbour town of Padstow. It’s about a 1.5–2 hour walk each way, perfect for families with older children or anyone looking for a rewarding day out.

Family tip: Treat yourselves to fish and chips or an ice cream by the harbour before heading back — or hop in a taxi if little legs are tired!

  • Spectacular sea views and cliff-top scenery
  • The dramatic Round Hole
  • Padstow’s harbour, shops, and cafés

2. Trevone to Harlyn Bay – Perfect for Families

For a shorter, family-friendly walk in Trevone, follow the coast path south towards Harlyn Bay. This route takes around 30–40 minutes each way and offers easy walking, wonderful views, and plenty of fresh sea air.

When you reach Harlyn Bay, you’ll find a wide, sandy beach ideal for picnics, paddling, and sandcastle building. There’s often a small café open during the summer months — perfect for a quick snack or a hot chocolate after your walk.

Highlights:

  • Easy, accessible coastal path
  • Family-friendly beaches at both ends
  • Great for dogs and children

Don’t forget: Pack a kite or a ball for beachside fun!

3. The Round Hole Loop – A Short Scenic Stroll

If you’re looking for a short walk from Kohinoor, this local favourite is ideal. From your accommodation, wander down to Trevone Bay and take the cliff path towards the Round Hole, one of Trevone’s most famous landmarks.

This enormous blowhole was formed when the roof of a sea cave collapsed, creating a dramatic window down to the waves below. From there, continue a little further for panoramic coastal views before looping inland across the fields back to Trevone village.

The walk takes about 45 minutes — a great pre-dinner stroll or morning leg-stretch.

Highlights:

  • The impressive Round Hole (a must-see natural feature)
  • Gentle terrain and easy navigation
  • Fantastic sea views for family photos

4. Trevone to Little Petherick Creek – A Peaceful Inland Escape

For something a little different, head inland from Trevone along quiet country lanes and footpaths towards Little Petherick Creek, part of the Camel Estuary.

This tranquil route takes around two hours round trip and offers a peaceful contrast to the coast, with farmland, hedgerows, and plenty of wildlife along the way. It’s a lovely choice for a dog walk near Trevone or a calm family outing away from the crowds.
